Prime Alternative Treatment Center will produce a multitude of cannabis based medicines in varying ratios of cannabinoid (CBD:THC) and terpenoids, which are available in medically driven dosage forms. In addition, all of the products will come in ranges of potency, starting off on the very low end of the spectrum (5 mg of THC), and incrementally increasing to what would be considered strong dosages, in order to ensure there is a product that is comfortable for all patients needs and tolerances. Prime ATC produced medicines will be tested for their cannabinoid and terpenoid profiles, contaminants of any type, which specifically include pesticides and heavy metals. Medicinal products which do not meet the strict standards set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services will not be made available for sale.

Dried Flowers (Inflorescence) or Dried Preparation:

This form of medicine will be the cannabis flowers after it has undergone a strict drying, manicuring, and curing process. Dried Cannabis Flowers will have gone through no adulteration or additional processing other than normal harvesting procedures. Each strain will be available in child resistant and tamper-proof pre-packaged containers, with contents of as little as 1 gram, and up to 14 grams. Samples of Dried Flowers will be available for qualifying patients to view inside the dispensary.

Dried Cannabis Flowers are the most familiar product to patients and are typically first considered due to their ease of use and rapid onset of effects and shorter duration of action. This is achieved by heating the plant material to a point below combustion, which allows a vapor to be created, carrying a range of cannabinoids and terpenoids into the lungs. Prime ATC explicitly promotes the usage of vaporizer devices as they have been proven to reduce the potential carcinogens produced by cannabis smoke. “An electric vaporizer was shown to release substantial amounts of THC while producing no measurable amounts of benzene, toluene, and naphthalene, which are generated when cannabis is smoked” (1).

Peak concentrations of THC (or other cannabinoids) in the blood stream occur between 5-10 minutes after the initial inhalation (if more than one is required), and typically in a 2 hour period of time of concentration of cannabinoids in the bloodstream has reduced dramatically. Most patients can expect the effects of inhaled cannabis to last between 1-3 hours, depending on factors such as tolerance, amount inhaled, and potency of the material consumed.

Patients can very easily use Dried Cannabis Flower to find an appropriate dosage by utilizing a titrating process which occurs over a 3-5 day period of time.

A concentrated oil will be infused into an oil (coconut, safflower, etc) or alcohol to provide a rapid onset of action due to a sublingual administration. Sublingual, from the Latin word for “under the tongue”, refers to the pharmacological route of administration by which medication diffuse into the blood through tissues under the tongue.

When chemical compounds come in contact with the mucous membrane beneath the tongue, it diffuses through it. Because the connective tissue beneath the epithelium contains a profusion of capillaries, the substance then diffuses into them and enters the venous circulation. In contrast, substances absorbed in the intestines are subject to “first-pass metabolism” in the liver before entering the general circulation.

Sublingual administration has certain advantages over oral administration. Being more direct, it is often faster, and it ensures that the substance will risk degradation only by salivary enzymes before entering the bloodstream, whereas orally administered cannabinoids must survive passage through the hostile environment of the gastrointestinal tract, which risks degrading them, either by stomach acid or bile, or by the many enzymes therein, such as monoamine oxidase (MAO). Furthermore, after absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, cannabinoids must pass to the liver, where they may be extensively altered; this is known as the first pass effect of drug metabolism

Tinctures will come in various sized bottles at multiple concentrations. Its possible that tinctures will be strain specific, or mixed, depending on the effect they are intended to produce. This form of medicine is a great introduction for patients who have never used Cannabis as medicine due to its ease of application and lack of combustion.

A concentrated oil will be infused with an EFA base (essential fatty acid), and encapsulated to provide a longer duration of symptom management via oral administration. The capsules will be available in various quantities and dosages. In addition, capsules could be offered with increased THC:CBD ratios, increased CBD:THC, or a relatively even THC:CBD ratio to provide the best coverage. These capsules would be easily broken down within the body and desired effects could begin within 30-90 minutes and lasting 4-8 hours depending on the user

A topical cream or compound is formulated using the concentrated oil of a cannabis chemotype and applied to the skin to produce a multitude of potential health benefits ranging from; anti-inflammation, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-oxidant. The cream could be applied to most surfaces of the body, or directly on the area in which a symptom of a particular ailment may be occurring. Typically, absorption through the skin can occur rather quickly and this form of medicine can in certain cases offer faster relief to targeted areas.

Personal Vaporizer:

Cannabis flowers would be extracted with a supercritical CO2 solvent in order to harness the essential oils or essential ingredients of the Dried Cannabis Flower, while leaving behind all plant matter. The concentrated oil is then portioned into small cartridges which can be easily attached to a personal vaporizing handheld device. The device would heat the oil to a temperature required to decarboxylate (or activate) the cannabinoids and terpenoids, so they can be introduced to the body. This particular application can provide almost instantaneous effects, and allows the user to carefully administer the proper dosage by increasing the usage until the desired level of medication has been reached, or to simply not continue use.

A concentrated Cannabis oil will be infused into a variety of small portion of consumable products that will have a focus on health consciousness, meaning they will avoid the use of high sugar and high fat ingredients. This form of medicine typically takes longer for the onset of effects, but typically lasts for greater lengths of time, and can prove to be much stronger then most other offered products. Edibles will be available in many dosages, starting as low as 2.5 mg, with incremental rises in potency to suit any patients need
